At CrossFit One World I recently launched the new Boot Camp program. I built the websites, wrote the work out programming, created the welcome packets that each Boot Camper receives, architected the online billing solution, and a million other things. It was approximately 10 weeks of prep work before I even started having clients come in the door and start training for Boot Camp. The goal of this Boot Camp is to foster a community of people with the common purpose of improving there lives through activity, better food, and camaraderie. This is not an easy task. Here are some of my plans for community development.
Enable communication outside of the gym. I do not want the Boot Campers only communication with each other to be inside the gym. I want them to go for a run together, call each other, and build friend ships. Mark Twight said that “Shared suffering creates Strong bonds;” I hope that this program does just that. Just an hour ago I finished the new Boot Camp Blog. This will be the main hub of communication outside of the gym.
Empower and educate. I don’t expect clients to be apart of Boot Camp forever. Eventually they will move on to something else. I take it as my responsibility that when they move on they are capable of continuing on with a physical and healthy lifestyle.
Fun. If they aren’t having a good time they won’t come back. Simple.
